Breakthroughs, Babies, and Blizzards

Hiiiiii. Welcome back! I've missed writing so much but I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't ever force myself to write anything if I don't have the motivation too. Although I have had a huge breakthrough in creativity lately, writer's block has truly encapsulated me. My creative vision has been extremely expansive and I'm definitely grateful for that. I've been creating mood boards and style samples left and right, curating photoshoot ideas, and filling up my calendar. It truly is a blessing to finally have something that I can work on and essentially be proud of. A new school semester has begun and I'm accepting all of the creative energy that comes my way. I'm looking forward to observing the world around me in the most artistic way possible. I usually gain a vision for creativity through cinema and TV, music, art, and things I see in my everyday life. This is relatively easy considering I attend a fashion school in the middle of New York City. I'm excited about this breakthrough and I hope I can continue to produce content not only for my blog and your viewing pleasure but also for my own sanity and mental health.

Moving right along, I'd love to address hot topics in mainstream media. Rihanna (fashion mogul and overall ICON) is pregnant with her first child. This is exciting news for the fashion industry because we have all simultaneously subconsciously considered maternity wear to be unimportant in the grand scheme of things. But the truth is, women want to feel beautiful while they're pregnant. They don't want to be shunned and kept decked off while they nest like bears in hibernation. Pregnancy is a beautiful experience and women deserve to feel just as glamorous when they're pregnant as they do when they aren't. My older sister is currently pregnant and she constantly complains about none of her old clothes fitting, and not feeling beautiful in a majority of what she puts on. She's sort of in that weird in-between bump phase where sometimes her bump looks like she's actually 5 months pregnant, and other times it looks like she's only just pigged out on a double cheeseburger meal from Shake Shack. When women are in this phase of their pregnancy it can be hard for them to find clothing that makes them feel comfortable and beautiful. I love that in Rihanna's first pregnancy outing she decided to ignore any stigma around pregnancy and just let the bump

all the way out! Not only did she expose the belly, but she draped her bump in a beautiful Chanel jewel-encrusted necklace followed by a Chanel chain belt. Rihanna has given us the epitome of femininity in this street-style paparazzi shot by Miles Diggs aka Diggzy. The long, pink Chanel puffer coat is also a statement during New York's snow blizzard (that most people are seeing as a fashion obstacle), real fashion lovers know snow is just another excuse to bring out your best winter pieces! (As I type this in my long black sherpa coat and black heeled chelsea boots). Hopefully, this statement will make fashion move forward in a sense that highlights the beauty in pregnancy. Moguls like Cardi B, Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner have all made contributions in combining pregnancy with high fashion. I'm super excited to see what else Rihanna brings to the table during this journey.

In other news, it will be interesting to see where the zeitgeist in fashion moves for the upcoming spring season...so many things to look forward to starting with Valentine's Day, then moving into Spring Break, and then Easter...oh the creative possibilities are endless and I'm looking forward to not only creating but also observing and learning.

Wishing you all a productive, safe, and healthy next couple of weeks.
